Papua New Guinea Ulya

Papua New Guinea Ulya

Papua New Guinea Ulya launched at the Seattle Reserve Roastery on March 30, 2021. This is the second offering of this coffee. The first was about a year ago, and I wrote about it here.

The artwork on the card appears to be the same, although the card itself has numerous differences from the first version, one year ago. The front of this year’s card appears to be missing the “single origin” coffee stamp. The back of the card has been updated with a new description. Coffee is a farm product, and just as one year’s crop of apples might taste different from the next year’s, the same holds true for coffee. It is often the case that one crop has different flavor highlights than the previous year’s crop. Last year’s description included “baked pineapple” and “brown sugar” as descriptors. This year’s coffee is described with “baked cherry” and “milk chocolate”. Also, the paragraph on the back of this year’s card removed any references to it being the “first” sun dried coffee from Papua New Guinea, and instead it’s identified as the second sun dried coffee from Papua New Guinea.
